Dua Lipa was born on 22nd August, 1995 in London the United Kingdom. She decided to sign with Warner Bros Records in 2014 following her work as an actress and then dropped her debut album, self-titled in 2017. The album climbed to the top spot at No. three on the U.K. Charts. There were eight songs released such as Be the First I.D.G.A.F., and New Rules. In the United States it peaked as number 6. The album, which has now been certified platinum in a variety of countries across the world has won two Brit Awards (in 2018) in the categories of British Female Solo Artist as well as British Breakthrough Artist. She was born to Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. She has Bosnian ancestry through her grandmother. Additionally, you can find her family's roots in the Kosovo town of Peja. Lipa's grandfathers are both historians. Lipa is the younger sister of Rina Lipa and a younger brother named Gjin. Lipa began to learn how guitar playing and sing from her dad Oda. Oda is the lead singer/guitarist of the Kosovan-rock band Oda. At home, her father played music of David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics The Police Stereophonics. Lipa started singing at the age of was 5 years old. When she was in her 9th year, she started singing at Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa covered Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, and If Ain't Get You from Alicia Keys. Lipa was approached for a recording contract by Warner Bros. Records in 2014. In August 2015, her debut single New Love came out.
